Candle Care

Trim your wick to ¼ inch

Trimming your wick is important for so many reasons - the most important being that your candle will burn properly.

You can trim your Órélì Luxe candle using a wick trimmer, scissors or nail cutter.

Re-trim your wick before every use, not just the first time you light your candle. Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris.

Burn for at least 3 hours

When you light your candle for the first time, be sure to let it burn for  3 - 4 hours to avoid tunneling. Avoid burning your candle for more than 5 hours each use, doing so can cause a fire hazard.

Do not worry if the wax has not melted to the edge of the jar (full melt pool) on your first burn of 4 hours. Coconut based waxes burn much slower than most other waxes

The more you burn your candle, the more the wax melts. A full melt pool would have been achieved when you have burned your candle halfway through.

Pay attention to your candle

  • Avoid burning your candle for more than 5 hours at a time
  • Never leave your candle unattended, especially if you have pets or kids
  • Never burn your candle close to anything that is flammable
  • Avoid moving or touching the candle vessel when lit, the vessel will get HOT
  • Never use a candle as a night light
  • Never extinguish candles with water
  • Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room
  • Coconut apricot wax candles are sensitive to heat and light. Store your candle in a cool, dark area. Always store candles upright.
  • Safety instructions are on the bottom of your candle. Please read and follow them carefully

Stop burning when there’s only ½ inch of wax left

Once ½ inch of the wax is left, don’t burn any longer. This prevents the candle from overheating and damaging the surface below it. Extinguish a candle if it repeatedly smokes or the flame becomes too high.

Our candles are a vibe and we feel your pain when you hit pan. However, there's only so much wax to burn. Our wick clips keep the flame at safety height above the bottom of the candle jar. This is in place to reduce the risk of overheating at the end of the candle's life.
